Greetings internet world! Thanks for following me on my journey to run a 5k race and then more! Here's my background story: I'm 31, a flight attendant and mostly healthy. I'm not overweight, but I'm not a twig either. I'm 6 feet tall and weight right now 153lbs. I'm a healthy weight but, what I am not is in shape. I use to be. A few years ago I worked out and did Pilates and lost 20 lbs that I didn't even realize I had to lose. (When you are 6 feet tall, there is a lot of area for 20lbs to stick to.) Then about a year ago I lost steam. I starting dating an amazing guy and spent a lot of time with him. I started to work more which translates to being sleepy more. After working the all night, 11 hour flight, from Beijing to Seattle, you don't exactly want to run to the gym.
I also started to have some knee and feet pain which added to my reasons not to work out. But I've gotten that looked at and think I can push past it from now on. The real kicker for me came about a week ago when I was in the Atlanta airport. With only 20 minutes to get to my next flight I ran, while dragging my suitcase and carrying a quilt from the end of one concourse down the escalator and back up the escalator in another concourse. When I got to the top of the first escalator I thought I was going to die. By the time I got to my seat, yes I actually made it, my body was mad! My legs felt like jello and I was seriously out of breath. It was time to change things! So I decided to try the couch to 5k running program. That's what this blog is about. Some accountability for me and maybe some inspiration for you. I'll track my progress with workouts, body stats and food choices. Thanks for reading and come back often! Comments are appreciated too!
